Research Blog: Commercial Conventions

 I am doing my commercial based on the product Callaway Blue Spring Water. Viewers of water commercials would normally see a mountain or lake flourishing with water. In other cases there would be a person an unbranded bottle of water then they'd end up trying out the endorsed bottle of water. The narrator would then talk about how natural and rich the water they are presenting is. Viewers of beverage commercials like Gatorade, would have someone doing something athletic like running, followed by them drinking the advertised beverage. Then the narrator would talk about how refreshing and rejuvenating the drink is and how you should drink it especially when doing task that can burn you out. The costumes worn in these commercials are sports apparel. Such as, gym shorts, sports bras, tights, tennis shoes; these clothes are usually unbranded this is meant to keep the spotlight on the product. Project Blog:Water Commercial

This was my first time creating and filming a commercial. At first I wasn't sure how this would come out because I had little to no experience with this type of thing. I first started out thinking I could do everything quickly and not really take any time on it. I quickly realized I was wrong and that things like this take time and a lot of patience. I learned that you should create a schedule that is more organized and sturdy rather then thinking you can do it at the last minute. I learned this through the process and order of how things took place including the issues. Another thing I learned is that you should always check everything including costumes and actors to make sure everything is right. I learned this because when I went to record the first few times, the weather wasn't good, I could've avoided this by checking the weather. Convention Research: Last 3 Minutes

  This short film was about the last three minutes of a man’s life. It is a drama that features a series of cuts, natural lighting, and non-diegetic music almost throughout the entire thing. The scene begins with low key lighting and a long shot to show the entire scene. That is common when a film starts just to show the audience what the scene looks like. Throughout the entire film, there is hardly any dialogue or spoken words at all.   Some angles used in the film are low angles, high angles, profiles, and even dutch angles which aren’t too common in dramas. For example, a low angle is used at the start when the man clutches his chest. This is showing that he is a victim of the circumstance he in. He is weak and essentially powerless because there is no one around to help him. Also, most of the scenes are filmed in from the point of view of the subject.
